55 Books!

A big day at the library last week! We reached the 50 book mark and then some. Our 50th book was a present for Monkey which he got to open at the library. He was so excited about the book "Don't Let the Pigeon Stay Up Late!" that he had to show Denise the librarian right away and had her hold the book while he went to the bathroom so that nobody would take it. (I think there was only one other person in the library.

Book #44 No More Bottles for Bunny - Bernette Ford and Sam Williams
Bunny decides to throw away his bottle and drink from a sippy cup like his friend Duck and Pig.
Monkey liked the bunny shaped sippy cup.
Teecee liked when Bunny threw away the bottle.


Book #45 So Sleepy Story by Uri Shulevitz
This is a story about a sleepy sleepy house and a sleepy sleepy boy that are awaken in the night by music.
Monkey liked when the music came in the window and into the bedroom.
Teecee liked when the music made everything in the house dance.


Book #46 Say Please by Tony Ross
The little princess learns to say please to get what she wants. She teaches a monster to say please and then to say thank you.
Monkey thought the princess should say "please AND thank you" throughout the book so we read it again an each time the princess asked for something he included a "thank you".
Teecee liked that Monkey thought the book should have better manners.


Book #47 A Trip with Grandma by Ruth Ohi
Squirt is afraid to go on his first overnight trip with Grandma and has to call home many times.
Monkey liked the tall trees
Teecee liked the part where Squirt woke up Grandma to tell her she was snoring.



Book #48 Baby and Mommy Go Walking by Lynda Homer
An older book about a Mommy and Baby and all the things they see on their walk.


Book #49 Which Witch is Which by Judi Barrett
This book asks you to find the right witch based on the clues.
Monkey like this book and had fun picking out which witch is which.
Teecee liked the frog witches eating the disgusting snacks.


BOOK #50 Don't Let the Pigeon Stay Up Late! - Mo Willems
Just like all of the other Pigeon books we loved this one. This time the sly pigeon wants to stay up and tries all kinds of tricks to convince you.
Monkey liked telling the pigeon to go to bed.
Teecee liked when the pigeon says he'll go to bed early tomorrow instead.


Book #51 Click Clack Moo by Doreen Cronin
The cows find a typewriter and send demand letters to Farmer Brown asking for electric blankets to keep them warm at night.
Monkey liked when the duck jumped into the pond.
Teecee liked when the duck hijacks the typewriter.



Book #52 Just Me and My Dad by Mercer Mayer
The little boy and his day go on a camping trip and the little boy helps with everything.
Monkey liked when they caught the big fish.
Teecee liked when the bear stole the fish from the frying pan.


Book #53 Wet and Dry by Albert James and
Book # 54 Drips and Drops by Albert James
These introduction to science books were a little old for Monkey but he liked all of the experiments you could do and wanted to know if I had all of the stuff to do any of them at my house.


Book #55 Postal Workers by Paulette Bourgeois
A great story that explains how a letter gets from one house to another.
Monkey liked the big sorting machine.
Teecee liked the big bags of mail.

20 Books in Just 1 Library visit

Wow! What a visit to the library we had this week. We read 20 books. Just as Monkey wanted to. There were too many to review all of them but here is the list!





Book 24 Jack Takes the Cake by Marni McGee

Jack brings home goodies from his Grandma to his Papa but he doesn't know how to bring them home without ruining them.

Monkey and Teecee liked when Jack ate the pie!





Book 25 Don't Forget the Bacon! by Pat Hutchins

The boy gets things all confused trying to remember what he was suppose to buy at the store.


Teecee liked that it reminded her of the old Sesame Street clip "... and a stick of butter. "

Book 26 The Hunchback of Notre Dame Pop-up Book


Book 27 It's Spring by Samantha Berger and Pamela Chanko

The animals pass the message around that Spring has arrived.







Book 28 Clifford the Big Red Dog: The Show and Tell Surprise by Norman Bidwell adapted by Teddy Margulies


Everyone is trying to find the best thing to bring for show and tell. Clifford and Emily Elisabeth look everywhere for something special to bring.



Monkey liked Clifford digging in the dirt

Teecee liked when he sneezed and blew away the bird's nest.






Book 29 Eloise Has a Lesson by Kay Thompson and Margaret MacNamara

Eloise does not want to do her lesson and gives her tutor a hard time.

Monkey liked Eloise acting out

Teecee liked when the tutor tell Eloise to "Think!"






Book 30 A Girl, a Goat and a Goose by David McPhail
A number of very short stories about this threesome.


Monkey like the story about the lightening storm

Teecee liked the story about Goose's missing feather.



Book 31 A Doll Named Dora Anne by Zona Zeldis McDonough

A great book with short chapters about a girl who inherits the family china doll but her Mom does not think she is old enough to take care of it.

Monkey liked this story and paid attention longer than Teecee thought he would.


Teecee liked the part where she made the doll a bed.



Book 32 The 100th Day of School by Angela Shelf Medearis

The kids in the class do lots of things in 100's to celebrate the 100th day of school.

Monkey liked the counting.
Teecee liked listening to Monkey practice his counting.




Book 33 The Pigeon finds a Hot Dog! by Mo Willems
Another great story about the Pigeon. This time there is a sneaky duckling trying to get a taste of the Pigeon's hot dog. Denise the Librarian picked this one out for us.
Monkey and Teecee loved this book and brought it home from the library.


Book 34 Arthur Writes a Story by Marc Brown
Arthur has to write a story for school. He keeps trying to make a simple story better by including more and more things.





Book 35 Butterflies by Darlene Freeman
This book explains how butterflies are born and how they change during their life.
Monkey liked the worms
Teecee liked when Monkey asked if butterflies eat people.


Book 36 I Want to Play! by Sue Robinson
A tiny kitten wanders away from her mom looking for someone to play with.
Monkey liked the kitten.
Teecee liked the ducklings


Book 37 Tree of Birds by Susan Meddaugh
A boy finds an injured bird by the side of the road and keeps him at his place to help him get better. When it is time for the little bird to fly south for the winter the boy will not let him go and the other birds will not go without him.

Monkey liked the birds
Teecee liked when the birds came in the house


Book 38 My wobbly tooth must not ever NEVER fall out by Lauren Child
We read this book as a repeat from another library visit. Lola has a very wobbly tooth but does not want it to fall out until she learns about the Tooth Fairy from her friend Lotta and her brother Charlie.
Monkey liked this book and insisted on reading it again.
Book 39 Big Week for Little Mouse
Little mouse has a lot to do to get ready for her birthday party.
Monkey liked the little mouse on the cover
Teecee liked the birthday party





Book 40 Superdog- The Heart of a Hero by Caralyn Buehner
A little pup is tired of being teased and trains hard everyday to become a superhero.

Monkey loved this book, we brought it home from the library.
Teecee liked Superdog's cape.



Book 41 How Do You Know It's Spring? by Allen Fowler

This book explains what you can look for to see if Spring has come. We read this book by the window and Monkey would look outside after each page to check if their were leaves on the trees, green grass, birds etc.
On the way home from the library he loudly announced "It's Spring!"

Book 42 Cold Little Duck, Duck, Duck by Lisa Westberg Peters
A little baby duck comes back for Spring too early and everything is cold and frozen.
Monkey like when the duck was stuck to the ice.
Teecee liked when the duck was free and swimming in the water.
Book 43 Simon Welcomes Spring by Gilles Tibo
A little boy tries to make Spring hurry but nothing works.
Monkey liked when he tied the balloons to the plants to help them grow
